Dr. Martin Cortez Wesley – Professor, Therapist, Storyteller

Writing about counseling, memory, family, faith, and the search for wisdom in a changing world.

My story, my life, and my practice.

I’m Dr. Martin C. Wesley, a counselor, educator, writer, and lifelong student of human nature. Over the years, I’ve spent my life teaching, practicing, and reflecting on what it means to struggle, to heal, and to grow. My work is shaped by both professional experience and personal history, rooted deeply in family, faith, culture, and the Appalachian soil of Kentucky where my story began.
Those roots continue to shape how I teach, write, and practice today. I believe every person carries a story worth telling, that character and values matter, and that how we respond to life’s hardships often defines who we become. In a world that often feels divided and hurried, I still believe empathy, humility, and honest conversation can help bridge the distance between us.
